Home Natural mindset A natural mindset

A natural mindset is believing strongly that your body has an innate ability to naturally grow and deliver your baby. Knowing that pregnancy can be uncomfortable, hard even. That labor can be a really intense experience, but not something to be afraid of.

A natural mindset is being comfortable with the uncomfortable. You feel at ease in your body. You trust your body. You have this. You feel a sense of power and control.

It is significant for the outcome of our journey to birth that we develop this trust and confidence in our body and allow space for whatever emerges during pregnancy, birth and beyond. To accept that even though you have an image in mind about your birth experience, it does not guarantee that you will have that experience. And that this is okay.

Embracing the fact that, in the end, all we really control is our breath, thoughts and emotions. Being present and calm, trusting our bodies, no matter what the world throws at us.

A natural mindset is about knowing that pregnancy and birth are transforming. I often say that not only a baby is born, a mother is born as well.

Not meaning that being a mother defines us. It’s another part of us that we didn’t feel or experience before. Someone explained it to me once as a room in our mind we had not visited before. I really liked that. It’s an addition to our previous existence. A rather big one.

A natural mindset is about taking the lead in your own pregnancy and birth. Knowing you have choices and there’s no “right” way to give birth. There is only your unique way.

It’s important to know what types of care are available to us. So, you can make informed decisions about your care team and the place you would like to deliver your baby.

I don’t mind where you want to deliver your baby. At home, in the hospital, in a birth house, whatever. Just as long as you feel safe and relaxed in this place.

That’s what matters most. When we are relaxed, trusting and confident we support the natural progression of our birth.
