You don’t have to do it alone.
As women we tend to live more individualised than we have ever done before in the history humankind.
With that, we miss the support of other women in community with each other.
We are missing sisterhood.
Feeling supported and respected during pregnancy and birth is key for a positive birth experience. Having these relationships help you normalize and validate your feelings during your pregnancy. They are vital for building trust in the process and feeling secure and safe towards your birth.
One form of sisterhood: Circles.
Circles are an ancient form of gathering, albeit one that fell out of favor for centuries in our Western world. Women-only circles, too, have been taking place for ages, all around the world. Many were directly tied to menstruation and the moon cycles. You see, something magical happens when you bring a group of women in circle.
Circles are a safe space, where every voice is included and treated with respect and without judgement. We feel heard and have a sense of belonging. Most importantly, in this safe space we are better able to connect with ourselves and discover our inner power. Circles typically include activities such as: rituals, sharing experiences, reflecting and learning, practicing embodiment, journaling, setting intentions and performing meditations, affirmations and visualizations.
It’s not the intention of a circle to “empower” each other. Instead we support each other in our journeys to discover our inner power.
For me, starting with women’s circles has been life changing and liberating. In circles I have discovered my inner power and have gotten more in touch with my femininity.
