In an earlier post I talked about how a natural mindset supports women in preparation for birth.
Women that have cultivated a natural mindset and have felt supported and respected by the people who are around them during birth have a more positive pregnancy and birth experience.
Part of that support comes from within.
By turning inward, you’ll learn how to calm your nervous system and create the space and the presence to really feel. Embodiment practices will help you become aware and build trust in your body’s natural abilities.
I call it building your Sensuous Intelligence.
Building your Sensuous Intelligence consists of four main practices.
Relax, or slow down. Relaxing allows you to sooth your nervous system via breathwork, meditation, body movements and touch. You’ll learn to let go of anxieties and insecurities, and become more present in the moment.
Re-sensitize, or get out of your own head. You’ll reconnect with your body by activating your senses. Embodiment practices help you pick up the subtle signals from your body and enable you to fully and truly express yourself.
Find Relief, or letting go and holding space. Pregnancy is a time of transformation. You can use this time to face and let go of old beliefs, pain, grief and trauma. It’s a beautiful time for reflection and holding space to heal.
Replenish, or fill your cup. Don’t forget to replenish yourself, both physically and emotionally. Learn proper nutrition to nourish your body and your baby. Take your time to integrate everything you’ve learned, process and be present.
These four steps include body-oriented modalities such as dance, breathwork, and meditation to support the natural mindset and belief that your body has a natural talent to give birth, bringing you through to the other side of fear.
By developing confidence in yourself, you’ll become the protagonist in your own birth story; trusting in your innate ability to adapt to whatever might arise during your pregnancy journey.
